U.S. Senator Alex Padilla and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Acting Regional Administrator Deborah Jordan announced that over $500 million will be allocated for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure upgrades in California. The funds will be made available through the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) and the new Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act (DWWIA) of 2021.
