Gillibrand, Butler Announce Legislation To Address Racial Disparities In Health Care Access

U.S. Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Jamaal Bowman have announced legislation to address racial disparities in health care access. The Health Equity and Access under the Law (HEAL) for Immigrant Women and Families Act will improve access to health care services for immigrants. The legislation will remove the five-year waiting period for lawful immigrants to access Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and expand access to health care options under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
