US Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand have secured $1.1 million for the Port of Oswego to construct the first waterside climate-controlled warehouse at a Great Lakes port. The funding, from the US Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Maritime Administration (MARAD), will provide critical infrastructure for upstate New York’s rapidly growing chips and manufacturing industries. Schumer and Gillibrand advocated strongly for the funding, arguing that it would enhance the competitiveness of the Port of Oswego and the regional economy, and create jobs in the region.
