U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Representative John J. Kennedy announced that $1.7 million will be allocated to restore the shoreline of the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park. The funding will be provided via the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI). The project aims to restore 1,300 feet of shoreline, reduce erosion, and improve water quality by creating fish and wildlife habitat. The GLRI was established by the Obama administration in 2010 to accelerate efforts to protect and restore the largest system of fresh surface water in the world.
